Healthy eating means eating a variety of foods so that your child gets the nutrients (such as protein, carbohydrates, fat, vitamins, and minerals) he or she needs for normal growth. If your child regularly eats a wide variety of basic foods, he or she will be well-nourished.
Eating a variety of foods keeps our meals interesting and flavorful. The variety of meals needs to be carefully planned to keep a child interested. Variety is also the key to a healthy and balanced diet because a variety of foods creates a unique mix of nutrients—both macronutrients (carbohydrate, protein, and fat) and micronutrients (vitamins and minerals). As a parent, you can help your child to eat interesting and nutritious meals.
